There is a big scare that the world is going to end at the end of 2012. With all the movies that have come out in the last ten years, people are frightened. There’s The Day After Tomorrow, and of course 2012, just to name a couple. Is it just Hollywood hype or is there some truth to it? There is no easy answers, and if there were, many people simply wouldn’t believe it.

There are changes that are happening, and whether or not these are related to 2012, who knows. Wehave seen more volcanoes in places that were previously dormant, like in Iceland, Costa Rica, and even in Russia. Are they a sign that something major is going to happen in the next few years? There have also been some earthquakes in locations where there haven’t been in a long time, like Nevada, Australia, and other places around the world. Are these to connected with 2012?

When you see predictions about 2012 on the internet, and on cable programs, you may think that all of these are somehow related and this is a sign that there is going to be some global cataclysmic catastrophe that is going to happen. The truth is that we as a people are contributing more to these problems than Mother Nature is. We continue to hunt for fossil fuels, sparking major disasters like the one in the Gulf of Mexico. We continue to use products that pollute our environment, and laugh at anyone who has proof of climate changes that are now occurring, or that are threatening our way of life.

The earth is in need of a global change, the last ice age was over 600,000 years ago, when they usually occurred around every three hundred. Maybe a great catastrophe like those that are predicted for 2012 are long over due, and well deserving.

There are those that say these changes are going to be so dramatic that will make any present day changes look insignificant. Some say that there will be sunspots so large and throw of solar flares that are going to fry everyone on the planet. These solar flares happen all the time, and disrupt electronics all the time, right now, and have been since the communication age. This is nothing new, and it will continue to happen. One of the worse case scenarios is that a solar flare will cause a massive EMP, and wipe out all electronics around the world, similar to those on the once widely popular television series Dark Angel. Will these changes happen overnight, killing everyone on the planet? Not likely.

You should definitely put together some kind of survival kit and strategy. That doesn’t necessarily mean you should start hording food and water, although you can do some stocking up in preparation. What you should be doing is learning survival skills, hunting game without guns, but bows, or crossbows.

Yes there will be those that have guns, but eventually, if you are not someone who knows how to make bullets, they will run out eventually. Learning how to hunt with basic weapons is the best skill.

There are many people who were making preparation long before the 2012 scare, and common folks could learn a lot from them. These people gathered up a survival kit, but also decided to live more off the grid.

This means finding alternative power sources, like solar, wind turbines, and even magnetic generators. You can now find all of these and more quickly online. There are even DIY kits where you build these systems from scratch, and it isn’t as hard as you think.

When you are making preparation for 2012, forget about buying underground shelters. If the worse case happens this is going to be your tomb. You need to be on the move, so you should buy some camping equipment, something lightweight, that you can carry in a backpack in necessary. You are going to need to be flexible with fuel sources, so buying a propane stove may not be the best option.

There are many religious organizations that say that 2012 will be the day that Armageddon begins. All those things that are said in Revelations will come to pass and the righteous will be saved and everyone else will be destroyed.

Between now and then you should begin your transformation from a sinner to a God fearing person, and make preparation for a new humanity. How are you supposed to do this then?

Well for those who are not doing what they are supposed to according to their beliefs, they better get on the ball, and start going to church on a regular basis, ask their God to forgive them of their transgressions and whatever else they can do to get on His good side again.

For those who are already in this position, they can get ready for a new humanity by being closer to the people they love and care about.

If these loved ones aren’t believers, maybe it’s time to either help them in their transformation, or it may be time to leave them behind and concentrate on the ones that can be saved.

One the opposite end of the spectrum, for those who have other belief systems, or that just don’t believe in religion period, this to can be a time of transformation into a new humanity as well.

Certainly, those with strong moral values and lean towards Christian beliefs will become unraveled if 12/21/2012 comes and goes without so much as a rumble. Those who believed that this time was indeed the end of the world may be so confused and disgruntled with their belief system they turn somewhere else for guidance now.

The Christian faith may actually cease to exist, as an organization, and people will have to seek a higher power from other sources.

Many pagans and those that believe in the OLD ways are going to be dancing in the streets if and when the Christian religion as we know it ceases to exist.

Many have been too long persecuted will now be able to come out of the closet so to speak, and not have to worry about people putting them down because they believe in a different God, or even many Gods.

This will be a transformation into a new humanity for them as well, when they can worship just as openly and the Catholics, the Protestants, Baptists, and all the rest have now.

Make preparation, and put together your religious survival kit. Make sure that when the transformation into a new humanity comes you are not left scratching your head.

While all the controversy over 2012 may not be as bad as most fear it is, it is definitely going to be a new era for humanity, one that some may not like, or even fear.

If that were true, and you took this form of time seriously, then the world would have technically started around 3000 BC, when the calendar began.

This, we know, is simply not true. The Mayan long calendar is simply the end of the next Bak’tun, a form of Mayan measurement.

So should we start preparations, get a survival kit going, and start being sky watchers, waiting in anticipation for the end of times? There is no simple answer, and while there will be changes, these changes are not going to bring about the end of the world, at least for most people.

There was the same kind of scare in 1999, when some thought this was the end of the world, especially some religious rulers. Many people were so freaked out that the end was near that they committed suicide just so they wouldn’t have to deal with it.

This may again happen as 12/21/2012 approaches. It could also be that some religious leaders, as a way to keep people from knowing the truth, will spike the sacrament with some kind of poison, and the masses will die, just like Jim Jones did with the Guiana tragedy.

The rest of us can only hope. The long calendar does indeed end, but as it ends, another form of passage begins.

This may indeed bring about a new era, one of spiritual enlightenment, because maybe, many Christians might realize that the church is not infallible, and this too is just another way to placate the masses, and get more people into the fold.

It would be more productive, especially if you are a religious person, to prepare spiritually, get closer, and spend more time with the people you love. This is after all much more important than trying to run around like a chicken with it’s head cut off.

Still, it’s not going to start on some certain date, or happen is a period of weeks or months, or even years. This process that hundreds of years, and the only reason it would be sped up is because of our own stupidity, like our hunt for fossil fuels, polluting our environment, and the like.

What does 2012 mean to me? Well for one thing, I believe that there will indeed be some dramatic changes, not just physically, but politically as well as spiritually.

Far too long many organized religions have talked about Armageddon, drawing a line in the sand so to speak, then when the line is crossed, and everything is fine, they draw another and another. What happens this time?

Either their world will come to an end, or, if it doesn’t happen, AGAIN, maybe it will be a turning point, and people’s faith will truly be put to the test.

For me, I have put together what survival kit I can. A trailer for independence, a small stock of food and supplies, and other kinds of preparation. How much can you do really, if the world is truly going to end, then you are going to die anyway, right?

If you believe that in a little over two years there is going to be no more life, then the only real things you can do to prepare is get closer to your friends and family, put aside all the hatred, and the grudges you have, and try to be happy.

Many people think 2012 predictions for the end of the world as we know it are bible related, and that at this time Armageddon will come. Nowhere in the bible does it give a specific date, and many Christians believed that the world was coming to an end in the year 2000.

Obviously, we are all still here. Plus, there are specific events that are directly related to the biblical interpretation of the end of the world, some of which have been happening, increased earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and other natural disasters, but this can be attributed to the planet’s natural process of changing.

Other doomsday 2012 predictions include the alignment of the planets, causing a gravitational shift on a cosmic scale that will tear the planet up, huge solar flare burning of what’s left of our ozone layer and crispy frying every living thing, as well as many others.

With some many of these different predictions, and horror story movies about the end of the world, it isn’t hard to see why so many people are scrambling to prepare for it. Companies have sprung up offering to build you a so called impenetrable underground bunker, complete with its own air filtering system, and storage space for more than a year.

Others are buying old unused underground missile silos and are converting them for their families and their friends. If indeed, the world will be coming to an end, as many 2012 predictions foresee, do any of these people really think they will be spared?
